Privacy policy

Isla Baby ("Isla", "the app") is a feeding and growth diary for babies, for Android. This policy explains what the app stores, where it keeps it, and how it uses your Google account. The short version: your diary stays on your phone and in your own Google Drive. Isla has no servers, and its developer never receives your data.
What Isla stores
- Your baby's profile: name, birth date and, if you choose to add it, sex.
- Diary entries: feeds (bottle amounts and type, nursing times and sides), weight, length and head measurements, immunisations, notes you add, and the name of the caregiver who logged each entry.
- Settings: your name as shown on entries, units, and colour scheme.
You enter all of this yourself. Isla doesn't use your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
Where it is kept
- On your phone. The diary is saved in the app's private storage on your device.
- In your Google Drive, if you sign in with Google. Isla keeps a copy of the diary as one file named "Isla Baby diary" in your own Google Drive, so it survives a lost phone and can be used on more than one device. The file is stored and protected by Google under your account and Google's own terms.
- With people you invite. If you invite another caregiver, Isla uses Google Drive's normal sharing to give their Google account access to that one diary file. You can see and remove who has access in Isla's settings or in Google Drive.
Isla does not run any servers or databases of its own. Nothing is sent to the app's developer or to anyone else.
How Isla uses your Google account
When you tap Continue with Google, Isla asks Google for permission to:
- See your name, email address and profile picture. These show who is signed in, label the entries you log, and send sharing invitations.
- Use Google Drive. Isla uses this only to create, read and update Isla Baby diary files, to find Isla Baby diaries that other people have shared with you, and to share your diary with the caregivers you invite. Isla doesn't open, change or delete any other files in your Drive.
Sign-in happens through Google Play services on your phone. Isla never sees your Google password, and it keeps no long-lived sign-in tokens of its own.
Isla Baby's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from your Google account is used only to provide the features above. It is never sold, never used for advertising, never used to train AI models, and never shared with anyone except the caregivers you choose to share your diary with.
Importing from Nara Baby
If you import a Nara Baby export, the file is read on your phone only. It isn't uploaded anywhere except into your own diary as described above.
No ads, analytics or tracking
Isla contains no advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking of any kind.
Children's information
Isla is for parents and caregivers to use. It stores information about a baby only because a parent or caregiver enters it, and it keeps that information under the parent's or caregiver's own control, as described above.
Security
Everything Isla sends to Google travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. On your phone, the diary sits in storage only Isla can read.
Your choices and deleting your data
- Remove it from a phone: in Isla, go to Settings and choose Clear this phone, or uninstall the app.
- Delete the copy in Google Drive: delete the "Isla Baby diary" file in Google Drive.
- Stop sharing: remove people from the diary in Isla's settings or in Google Drive.
- Remove Isla's access to your Google account: go to myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
